Welcome from your New Ferrymen over '24.

Come, let us see u across.

Four ferrymen are now trained, qualified & ready to ferry; Eammon (building a 40' Catamaran at our Kingfisher Boatyard), Jack (Ferry Cafe Jaa's IT & chef husband with Zelda) & Karen (river witch), with founder Stephen (and Jet).

Four Ferrymen fom Spring '24 - all very individual

The ferry began before the war enabling country folk to catch the train at Whitlingham Halt (closed under Beeching) into Norwich, then again in the '60s when Nobby Clarke (football club canary mascot)  used to row people across and retrieve bodies floating downstream!   Thorpe Ferry was resurrected by Stephen Ellingham in 2022 with a Broads Authority grant & kind donation. When quiet, Stephen and his water dog collect floating litter from the River Yare.
